What are the benefits of private tutoring and how do I know if it’s right for me or my child?
Private tutoring is truly tailored to an individual student's needs, meaning they get the attention, nurturing and learning experience that they really need to succeed. Free from the distractions of a busy classroom, private tutoring helps to build students’ esteem through independent learning in an environment that is free from judgement and punishment. Through increased confidence and self-belief, students can go on to use the tools they have been given to not only expand their subject knowledge comprehension, but to truly excel and thrive in their learning.
How many sessions does an individual student need?
It completely depends! Every student is unique, and that’s why I give every single student a bespoke learning plan. I offer English and French tutoring sessions in blocks of six to fit with the school term calendars, but am happy to book any number of sessions for a student. If you’re not sure how many sessions either you or your child might need then do get in touch with me using the enquiry form on my contact page and we can chat through some options.
What’s the booking process and how will we work together?
Submit your details via the the enquiry form on my contact page so I can get in touch with you directly and learn more about your needs. I will usually suggest a phone consultation or in person meet so we can decide if we’re the right fit for each other. If you decide to go ahead with private tutoring, I’ll then send you a contract and my terms and conditions, followed by your bespoke learning plan so that you can see and understand the roadmap that is going to shape our time together.
What qualifications do you have and can you give me references and testimonials?
These are available on the website, but if you need to know anything specific then this can be provided on request. I also have an enhanced DBS and am fully trained in child safeguarding.
Do you belong to a professional body?
I am a member of The Tutors Association. The Tutors Association is the only professional membership body for tutoring. I am committed to professional standards by signing up to their code of practice and having an enhanced DBS. A copy of the code of practice is available on request.
Do we get a contract with terms and conditions?
Yes. Your contract covers the agreement between us and the bespoke coaching plan which outlines the work we will cover, for how long, and the cost of the sessions. You will also receive my full terms and conditions in a separate document.
What’s your cancellation policy?
My cancellation policy is outlined in my terms and conditions, available on request and received as part of your contract with me.
Where do you work from?
I run all my private tutoring sessions from my home. We work around a large table in a bright, spacious room that provides a relaxing environment away from distractions.
What resources do students get when being tutored by you?
I will provide all the individual resources that each student needs during their private tutoring sessions with me. All of these resources are created by me and are subject to copyright; to copy the content within them without author permission is strictly prohibited. To get an idea of the kinds of resources you can expect, take a look at the Free Resources page to get started.
Do you have insurance?
I have both public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
How can I find out more?
Have a look at the about me page on my website and then fill in the enquiry form via the get in touch page to find out more about working together. I look forward to hearing from you!
